IN THE MIDST OF STORMS,WE GIVE THANKS.
LINCOLN-IN THE MIDST OF STORMS-WE
GIVE THANKS!
We may be divided in America today, but in 1863 there was a battle like no other and it was tearing up the country even worse. And a president trying to see it end.But October 8,1863 President Abraham Lincoln brought a little calm to a national storm-By giving thanks.
In his speech Lincoln says that "no human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the most High God,who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy."
With one voice and one heart America today just as Lincoln said then should greatly acknowledge of God's blessings and take time for Thanksgiving. And so give praise to our beneficent father who dwelleth in the heavens. For He has blessed us and has had mercy on us.
For in the midst of all that storm Lincoln didn't forget God and God didn't forget him nor this nation. He still hasn't.We pay the price for our sins, but God sending His Son Jesus paid the ultimate price for us and with His amazing grace and mercy shows He hasn't given up on us.But we have forgotten Him.
So let us repent and give Him thanks even in the midst of our storms because His anger is just but He never forgets mercy to those who return to Him.On this Thanksgiving we thank Him for everything and always ask His Hand in guiding our good ship union back to the sails of faith, living by the example of Christ and spreading the light of love for another as God first loved us.
