"I read more and and enjoy it less!" JFK

IT'S NATIONAL NEWSPAPER WEEK and I can hear the words of President Kennedy."I read more and enjoy it less."

I wrote this last year:

Newspapers are vital information to the citizen,to the local and state governments. It's vital to the President of the United States and the fed govt.

And although we read more and enjoy less of the news by the newspapers as JFK sometimes did and that was because of the articles that were about him they don't always intentionally give us bad news. The world does that on its own. They just report it.

They report on every administration, the policies and where the country is succeeding and failing.Personal opinions are involved but they also have a section for the citizen.TO THE EDITOR where our opinions are printed.

Newspapers, regardless of how bias we may see the media can be at times,I do not think they are the enemy of the people. We all including them get caught in the political dismay where reason sees none and arguments and hate emerge. But they are important because the newspapers don't just give us national news they give us community news and I like the community news. The citizen is informed of what's going on around him.

While the media is accused of being fake news,I do think a lot of the social media itself is more into the fake stories and they are good at it.So they I worry about.

And as for journalism itself. The theory is that its dead because of all the political heated climax.I don't necessarily agree with that because some are trying to be good journalists. And some stories are good. But the thinking is with all the fake news stuff going on Americans are finding it hard to trust the media.

But it's where the media needs to work on it.Work to show that it is fair as well as it should criticize. And both are needed.I won't give up my newspapers and I thank all those who print them and get them to the people. We are a good country, but today we are in a whirlwind of division, violence and hate.We need to overcome this and get back to being what John F.Kennedy believed about America. Were 2nd to none.

We lead in the cause of freedom and freedom from fear is one we should be leading in. Not afraid to hear the other and agree to disagree where we must. Newspapers can be the place to remind us as a people and as a nation.
